The Fives
Synopsis
The Fives are about facing adversity. Though we may not be successful, we need not passively succumb to the situation. Instead we find courage, compassion, humility, and endurance. On the Tree of Life, the fives are associated with the Sefirot Gevurah, "Strength" or "Severity". The Fives are a challenge to refine our approach.
Wands
Saturn in Leo
The Five of Wands brings the fires of conflict and strife. It can potentially burn us down, or provide the creative tension for a breakthrough to a different kind of resolution.
Cups
Mars in Scorpio
The Five of Cups teaches that within and on the other side of despair, there is a reservoir of life. As humans we all go through sorrow and loss, but can come out on the other side with a deeper sense of compassion for ourselves and those around us.
Swords
Venus in Aquarius
The Five of Swords shows us that we won't always win, and that sometimes a fight is a futile path. The challenge is in finding the humility to recognize there is always a greater force than anything we can bring individually into play, and thus take hold of our own ability and power without comparing it to others.
Disks
Mecury in Taurus
The Five of Disks calls for patience and steadfastness. Whether challenged with loss of health or home, we are at times forced to face what we are beyond what we see, touch, and feel. While the embodied state is an invaluable gift--one key to our lives in this world--there is more to each and all of us. In these times, it is good to remember the soul.
